The Walk screengrab JG Levitt

Smithsonian.com’s Katie Nodjimbadem recently spoke with Warehouse Wire instructor, Sonja Harpstead, for her piece, “What Happens to Your Body When You Walk on a Tightrope?”

The article coincided with the release of Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk, the fictional version of Philippe Petit’s 1974 daredevil tight wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center.

Turns out wire walking is about more than courage (though one could be forgiven for focussing on the fear factor when it comes to Petit’s stunt).

Read what Katie and Sonja have to say about wire walking at Smithsonian.com.
