Research and Improvisation in Aerials

The class is meant for aerialists looking for help to create new and innovative material in their discipline. We will talk about different approaches to researching movement and technique outside the standards. There will be discussion and different improvisation exercises designed to help to find new aspects of aerial technique depending on the specific needs of the students. Prerequisite: You must be comfortable improvising on your chosen apparatus.

Kerttu is an aerial acrobat originally from Finland. She graduated from The National Circus School in Montreal. She has been performing professionally from a very young age and has participated in multiple international circus festivals. She is known for her unique approach to Straps and has been developing new material on the discipline for the last 10 years. Kerttu is also a founding member of the American contemporary circus company, Frequently Asked Questions; A Circus Collective.
