Matthew Cusick

Matthew Cusick grew up in the sport of gymnastics and excelled at his passion since the age of five. He was a competitive gymnast till the age of 17 and competitive springboard diver till the age of 19.

Matthew began his coaching and teaching career in 1987 in the Washington DC area. A high-level coach, he led his athletes to National titles, full collegiate scholarships and elite level competition. He developed and implemented their strength and conditioning for competition, as well as choreographed many of their routines on Floor Exercise and Balance Beam. Matthew also helped coach Sports Acrobatics.

Matthew went on to perform with CIRQUE DU SOLEIL as an Aerial High-bar Catcher and Chinese Pole performer.

In 2005, he co-founded the dynamic hand–to-hand strength and balancing act, KENiMATTix. He currently performs as an acrobat/actor at The Metropolitan Opera. He was a featured acrobat in Disney’s hit movie “Enchanted” (the Central Park scene). In the summer of 2011, he directed and performed in the Boston-area circus show “Cirque Fantasies.”

With 27 years of teaching experience, Matthew instructs students at Circus Warehouse in Trampoline, Handstands, Dynamic Acrobatics, Acrobatic Balancing and Chinese Pole. He also helps with air awareness for flying trapeze students and continues to catch Flying Trapeze.

Matthew is available for private lessons.
