Megan Cattau’s first love is the single-point dance trapeze, but she also enjoys the aerial silks, lyra, and invented apparatuses of all sorts (particularly if they are metal).

She began her aerial dance career at Canopy Studio, training with Susan Murphy. She later became a choreographer, teacher, member of the studio’s repertory performance company and, eventually, the assistant director at Canopy. When she moved to North Carolina in 2008, Megan founded the Flying Night Aerial Troupe.

Megan has performed in the US and internationally in dance concerts, festivals, benefit events, theatrical plays, corporate venues, resorts, and nightclubs, both with her company and as a solo act. Megan has particularly enjoyed choreographing pieces for her trapeze and silks students over the years. She also delights in collaborations of all sorts, with fellow dancers and with other local artists and musicians.

In her non-aerial life, Megan is an ecologist. She analyzes land use change by modeling satellite data, and she can frequently be found chasing red-haired apes around the peat swamp forests of Indonesia. She is honored to be a new part of the team at Circus Warehouse!
