Matthew Greenfield graduated from Penn State University with a Neuroscience Psychology degree in May 2010. He was on the varsity gymnastics team for all four years of his collegiate career. During that time he contributed his efforts to help the team win the NCAA title in 2007 and the Big 10 title in 2008. He specialized on the high bar, and competed on floor, vault and rings. In the 2009-2010 season Matthew was named the tallest gymnast in the NCAA.
After graduating from Penn State, Matthew was accepted in the General Formation Program for Cirque du Soleil. He worked in Montreal as a bateau catcher in O. Following Cirque he moved to New York City where he started performing straps and hand to hand at a night club called the Box.

While in the city, Matthew was among those representing the United States in Venice, Italy as a performer in the Allora & Calzadillla’s “War Games” installation at the 2012 Venice Biennale (the most prestigious contemporary arts festival in the world). Since then, Matthew has toured with Cirque Mechanics’ Boom Town, and Sept Doigt de la Main’s 2 productions, Traces and Feriamuse.

Matthew Continues to grow as an artist and always works on developing his skills. He enjoys using the tools developed in gymnastics and transferring them into his new passion. He accepts challenges with open arms and is all about the journey, the challenges and the opportunity for new experiences to expand his horizons.
